MOLESKIN:
7 Brave souls showed up this morning to run in the rain. There was a lot of grumbling going on about how everyone was sore from the MURPH on Monday. Apparently, the rest of the AO’s so far this week kept the bar set high too. Avril was midpack for the first half and then found some sort of reserve energy from somewhere and was pushing Alright Alright on the back half. This lead  many of the PAX to accuse Avril of pulling a Chairman and only going half speed at the beginning.

Hey Dirtbag hold my beer real quick…

Special Sauce Trash Panda Stingray Stingray Meatball Slushii Rump Roast Draper sound machine DFib Jobu Sex Panther Bleep Phelps (Tim) Noah “Don’t Call me Baby Shark” Phelps, Shifty McCoy, and Sally joined AlrightAlright and YHC for the first ever Dual QOTY beatdown

Warmup:
SSH, ISTs, Veggie Pickers

The Thang (alternating Q’s with every other song)
AlrightAlright took us up to rock out with our Camp Gladiator friends to flex our muscles and intimidate them with our EDM beats

Then I ran us to one of the parking decks and stopped us on an incline for some Mary to work on the lower core

AlrightAlright made us do some spider man push ups and and mountain climbers…Draper and other PAX showed some genuine concern about “just” holding a plank for a bit and were disappointed that planking was the exercise we were doing

OG Icebox Alert!
Listening to Baby Shark, SSH with burpees every time they said “Shark” (basically two minutes of burpees)

AlrightAlright ran us up to the top of the parking deck and had us doing bear crawl suicides

Because YHC is a sadist we followed that up with a few minutes of Arms by Mrs Icebox

AlrightAlright wasn’t done bear crawling so we had to bear crawl down a flight of stairs and followed that up with some irkins

YHC then went for a mosey to a different parking deck and was disappointed in the lack of hustle by the PAX so started to burpee, even more confusion by the PAX as I’ve never instituted the burpee rule during a Q which led to 21 burpees once the 6 was in (would’ve been 40 if AlrightAlright had been doing the burpees)

AlrightAlright took a page of of the DJ Icebox instruction manual and had us mosey to a big stairwell for Mony Mony dips (listening to Billy Idol’s Mony Mony, hold a back plank and do a dip every time they say “Mony”)…Jobu asked how many that was and I promised I’d do a real OG workout where I count out the number of reps for each song

AlrightAlright then took us back where we started to roll around and do merkins on ant hills (clearly his tolerance for ant bites is greater than his disdain for doing core exercises on concrete)

Someone must have said something because AlrightAlright used some words my playlist wasn’t allowed to use and made us run around Starbucks, taunting us with what we could be doing instead of working out

YHC then rocked out with 4 more minutes of Mary on the ant hills since we were already contaminated

MOLESKIN:
Good time today. Thanks to all the PAX for showing out and welcoming YHC back to Q’ing.

H/t to Jobu for bringing the Chicken Alfredo, all PAX carb-loaded up 5 minutes before kickoff. This gave many of the PAX incredible energy and strength. Supermen out there. And only one chunder.. YHC will let you guess who.

Trash Panda was unfortunately a couple minutes late, incurring 20 penalty burpees. Meanwhile, the rest of the PAX did flutter kicks. This brought loads of mumblechatter.

Rump Roast brought an upbeat positive attitude today, even thanking the Q for pushing his limits instead of cursing him. A shocking change of heart.. will it last?!

Silent Bob was happy to “see the other side of the park.” Not necessary to get a good workout to leave the immediate AO, but definitely can be a good change of pace :).

Rain mostly held off. Prayed to get better and use our gifts for good.

Everyone stayed after for some 2nd F. The glue, baby!

Happy Friday.

While I may never be an Army Ranger… I AM one meat slingin’ son of a beep test! 11 men joined me this morning to explore the AO, Shops at Park Lane. The parking was nice and easy at 0524; we all meet up in front of the Starbucks. F150 waits to tell me last night at 930pm that his CG insider advised him they could be back on the property… Good news right, then he tells me they HAD to get permission. So I’m a little freaked we may get the boot. The warm-up was just long enough for the security guard to get bored watching us and for Alright Alright to start moanin’ and groanin’ about us staying in one place for our entire 1st workout. Also, some friendly debate about YHC’s arms not hurting because I didn’t do the Murph yesterday. to which I replied that it was voluntary and I didn’t want to do it. I stand my ground, I’m grown and don’t have to do it!

We then moseyed down to the stairs for an elevated learning session. I’ll be working on the Beef 101 class throughout the summer to get it just right.  We started with B.O.M.B.S which for time, I Omaha’d into BOMB. It quickly drew a few mean mugs and side-eyes, along with some mumbles which I took as a good sign. At the top of the stairs, you could see the CG crew in the Whole Paycheck parking lot. Noticing we were getting short on time I called it, as I was realizing bombs took way too long. I skipped Elevens altogether and sort of combined them it Elevated Lazy Dora. Also drawing moans and groans from the crowd. Again we cut it a little short to head back for “Free time”… I had a planned surprise but the drone pilot I found out later fell asleep. Before I could call the exercises some of the crew decide to just sit down and chill. AA was keen enough to point it out so we all did 10x burpees. I got lots of feedback that this was a good one and I know I was smoked. I expect to see each and every one of you men/leaders take some time to Q at this new spot! There are tons of places to see

Back at the launch, we used some benches to pull off a quick Dirty McDuce knock-off, some Mary, and called it a day

Native American Bear Crawl, everyone in line hold a plank
Native American Crawl Bear, everyone in line hold a plank

Everyone sprint like a roadrunner to the sidewalk, then Native American Run around the park to the playground

Mosey to the tennis court, where half the group did a suicide while the rest did burpees. Flapjack.

Next 10 Dry Docks, and at this point, the ECers joined us. They were 52 minutes late, so everyone did 52 burpees, then ended with 10 squats

MARY:
We never did do the rugby sit ups

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
YHC prayed us out

MOLESKIN:
YHC decided to take the PAX on a little safari this AM. YHC had thought about a big planned beatdown, but alas, was slammed with work this week, so that will have to wait. The Red Barchetta starter was a crowd pleaser and generated a few “FUs” from Rump. There were some issues with defining which fence and which trash can for a few of the sprints, so YHC knows why this exercise is normally done on a football field.

The NA Duck Walk led to some discussion about the best human duck call in F3, where the consensus was Ultra would have it, with Sex Panther second. Sound Machine had a rather surprising good duck call, which he claimed is partially due to his first car having hooves.

In the middle of the NA Crab Walks, YHC turned to Alright Alright and asked if the ECers joined the beatdown, should YHC make the PAX do penalty burpees for them being 35 min late. Alright Alright said we should, which YHC kept in his back packet.

A lot of mumble chatter during the Safari, which led YHC to think that maybe the Safari wasn’t a sufficient beatdown, so YHC decided to ramp up the cardio with the NA run and suicide at the tennis court. We decided to split into two groups for the suicides and YHC took Alright Alright’s suggestion of the group doing burpees while they waited, which YHC happily obliged (insert more “FUs” from Rump Roast).

YHC was going to just do a few exercises and some Mary, but the ECers joined right after the suicides, so YHC had to be consistent and fair and thus 52 penalty burpees were required for the ECers showing up 52 min late. This led to quite a bit of grumbling and a few cries of foul from the ECers saying we were late to the EC workout. However, YHC would like to point out that YHC did not join the EC group or workout at all, so YHC didn’t attend the EC workout. The ECers joined the workout that started at 0700, and thus the penalty burpees were instituted.

FNG naming occurred. Potential other names were Wild Thing, Dorn (Jobu brought him, so another Major League theme), or maybe Loggins (he has a great head of hair). But El Chapo, mentioned he is a rock climber the rock climbing led to discussions about El Captain where free climbing occurs, and that led to El Chapo.

Shoutout to the perfect weekers (Big Tex, F150, Slippy, and Sex Panther) and pour one out for Bleep and Special Sauce. Bleep is usually absent on Saturdays, so that’s understandable. Special Sauce was unable to return from beyond the wall in time, as he journeyed to the great North yesterday. Though he’ll probably be happy that he missed all the penalty burpees after requesting no burpees.

1 penalty burpee for Ant Man’s tardiness

THA THANG:

Mosey to Quad for the Doomsday Clock for approximately 40 minutes:

Making use of the 12 spokes (sidewalks) out from the fountain, YHC had PAX perform the following rotating around each spoke like clockwork.

  1. 10 Pam Andersons (burpee nippler)
  2. 20 Squats
  3. 30 V Ups
  4. 40 Merkins
  5. 50 Rugby Situps
  6. 60 Gorilla Squats
  7. 70 Mountain Climbers (x2)
  8. 80 Lunges (x1)
  9. 90 OH Presses
  10. 100 Plank Jacks
  11. 110 OH Claps
  12. 120 LBC’s

Following each set of exercises, PAX ran the length of spoke, performed burpees x station number (total of 78 burpees) and ran back to fountain (hub) to start next station.  An exception was made following gorilla squats and OH presses, where PAX bear crawled the length of the spoke and back.

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
YHC prayed us out.  YHC challenged the PAX to seek the input of each of their M’s about F3.  There has been a theme lately from several of us whose M’s have not held F3 in the highest regard for various reasons, which means that we and much more, I, have failed to properly bring back the tenets of the life-changing organization back to my home.  I challenged the PAX to bring back the feedback and vowed to create more 2F events that include the M’s and 2.0’s as we begin to emerge from Covid prison.

MOLESKIN:

YHC had the thought to roll this oldie out after not having completed it in over a year.  Many new PAX that had not felt the burn of the Doomsday Clock so why not!  PAX were spread around the circle and YHC heard several conversations (this tells me there is much more effort to be put forth if one can carry on a park walk chat).  YHC received several complaints and groans, but only one emphatic “FU” from Rump so I will assume that he is getting stronger and the workout isn’t a cake walk since it seemed to gas most everybody else.  TClaps to Classified and Special Sauce.  Classified kept a weight vest on the entire time.  This workout sucks without added weight.  Sauce brought a speaker and playlist with minimal notice.

What a way to celebrate… Yesterday way my 18th wedding anniversary and I decided to take it out on the PAX! (Joking, I’m a very lucky man to have an amazing wife that’s put up with me for as long as she has. Hoping I’ll grow up eventually)

Anyway, while I was STOKED to get Sally back out even if it was just a guest appearance, I was let down that my man Special Sauce and the #subarumafia were all MIA.  Was a ton of mumble chatter during the warm-up to the point I really don’t know how many IST’s we really did… Did anyone actually count?

I had planned to do 50 total OYO Burpees by the time we started the Balboa but, saved the last 20 for the end before we moseyed back to the start. There was some grumbling from AA that the double count lunges was a little too much. So once he was done with all of them I Omaha’d to move on to the Big Boi Sit-ups. I think that was about as far as we got before time was up. Slushii & Bleep FINALLY showed up at like 0550 or some where really close to the end but, honestly I was just glad to see them. More than I can say for someone….

Overall, it was a great turnout, I believe a record attendance for 2ndCT. Way to push yourself men. Thank you all for making me a better version of me.

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
YHC thanked the PAX for being there with him these last 3.5 (or 4.5, YHC can never remember) years with F3 and the improvement YHC has made in fitness (tummy fat loss) and general manhood. YHC would not be where he is today, about to marry the woman of his dreams without F3. Thank you

MOLESKIN:
The jokes were funny and frequent of course. Several PAX mentioned YHC should only need about 3 reps of pickle pounders for the big night and there were probably wasn’t a need for any other type of exercise. During the Apple turnover, YHC mentioned to stop at second base, to which Sally and Draper responded “no now you can go all the way to home base” and the continuation of bases reached was asked to which YHC had no response. Draper requested I note these for the backblast, so feel free to comment if I missed some jokes. When lunges were announced, Draper had some not kind words for Oatmeal after their EC was apparently heavy on the legs with them carrying their coupon and ruck for over 2.5 miles. So #tclaps to them and PowPow (who had to leave early) for doing the EC. There was a heavy dose of Rump F-bombs today, which YHC always likes to hear since it means the workout is tough. The Double Merkin Burpees produced quite the groaning, as well as the burpee suicide. YHC appreciated everyone coming out to show support as YHC bids adieu to the single life.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

MOLESKIN:
Small group this morning, which was a shame cuz the no shows missed out on some great Trail running weather. Alright Alright informed us that Pepper did his best politician impersonation by promising to have a perfect rest of the week starting today, but alas he was a no show. Maybe he’ll HC again for tomorrow? AA said Pepper promised him Canes if he didn’t show, so we’ll see if Pepper will pay up. Everyone was pretty sore from either the Harbor yesterday (even Sally with his half post yesterday) so YHC tried to hit the upper body hard. This was confirmed by AA saying this was the heaviest upper body Trail day (Mustang nonwithstanding). Overall, a solid beatdown enjoying probably the last good weather day until October.
