No matter what our view on Covid-19, remember our families may differ. We need to think creatively on how to engage our families and encourage them during this time. 

YHC challenge the PAX to think who in the LH and surrounding area we need to be EHing. Some sad clowns will not cross 75 because of its mystical powers to those who live on either side of it to not cross it. There have only been a few brave Eastsiders to cross the mystical barrier. We have averaged 6 PAX for The Harbor workouts in 2020, there are men who need F3 in and around LH and surrounding areas it our job to EH them.

MOLESKIN:

A lot of mumblechatter from Alright Alright about it would have been nice to know we were going to have coupons at this workout. YHC purposefully didn’t ask the PAX to bring coupons in the preblast, always bring gloves to a workout YHC leads. You never know if YHC will have coupons or not. Something about Starbucky hands was muttered, but YHC quickly ignored. Plus One mentioned that when he read the preblast he figured there would be coupons. Not sure what gave him that idea, except that YHC challenged the PAX to know who would HC. It was more for knowing what to plan for the workout. 

Even with the slight mist/rain it was a good workout. We can’t

MOLESKIN:
A week or so ago, I believe Sex Panther had us team-up and run old fashioned wind sprints. Running isn’t my strong suit so I thought this would be a good one to build on that. I also enjoy tweaking these Hero WOD routines to fit an F3 workout and honoring guys that go out serve us so that we can have the freedom to get up and do this.  I would say the pax didn’t enjoy the Merkins as much as I hated the running. As with 40yd sprints in football practice, I appointed Ina to keep us honest and if we weren’t all giving 100% all the way thru to make us repeat. Luckily, we all pushed hard and didn’t have to do any extras. I’m pretty quick when I know how far I’m going… For an old guy!

Conveniently, this week is the sixth anniversary of Plus One’s first F3 workout and the first F3 workout at Glencoe Park. We decided that we would throw it back (sort of) to the theme from that day six years ago…

MOLESKIN:
YHC literally arrived with bells on and a Christmas hits list for the workout.  While not up to the level of Icebox’s Christmas hits list, YHC threw in some old school soul classics along with a few Latin carols to spice things up, which included the workout theme song: Run, Run Rudolph!  With a PAX vote, we agreed to extend the workout to an hour and with that we were off.  As we rounded the turn at Hillcrest and completed the jump squats, Pepper was visited by the ghost of Christmas poo and made a bee line to 7 Eleven for his first-round matchup with Mr. Hankey.  Once at the foot of the Christmas tree, we commenced YHC’s Rudolph exercises and were nearly run over at one point.  There was random talk until YHC rolled out Little Merkin Boy, which sounded too easy with a single merkin for every pa rum pump pum pum so YHC called for two.  It sucked!  Then AlrightAlright piped up about the pretzel crunch YHC had planned equating it to an Uptown crunch, so YHC audibled to a pretzel stick, which added to the suck and will be rolled out again in the future.  At this point, Pepper went to round two with Mr. Hankey and missed the round of hurpees, so YHC and AA graciously agreed to complete another 20 with him before we all began to mosey to Burleson to catch the Second Choicers before they finished their peppermint lattes.  YHC had them join in a few extra Jingle exercises before Pepper, AA and me ran it back to La Mad with two minutes to spare!

MOLESKIN:
Bleep started off the workout with calling out IST and doing a SSH. Atypical westside warmup only doing 2 warmup exercises. Lots of F bombs dropped by Rump Roast during out running….a bit more than usual. Bleep had promised a 750cal workout and according to the highly sophisticated Apple iWatch I got 684cal. Pretty good beatdown for #secondchoice. Per norm – 2nd choice brought out more PAX than KTT. As we made our way back to the park from the garage (6:16am) I looked over and saw some runners I recognized heading out way. Alright Alright, Oatmeal, and Pepper joined in for a 5min quick circuit before their run back to the launching point for KTT. Sound Machine gave them a good #westsidecropdust and sent them on their way. Merry Christmas Eve men!

YHC arrived early to stretch because YHC is getting old.

Much to YHC’s surprise, Teasip was in attendance after getting back from Boston yesterday.

At 0528 we still hadn’t seen the Westsiders and YHC was beginning to plan the Germany Park workout from Hell to punish them… fortunately for Rump Roast, Slushii and Bleep posted as we were about to launch.

YHC didn’t hear much Mumblechatter, but the groans were audible during the first set of murder bunnies.

Pokey joined us during our Bench session at The Nest, and put the PAX to shame for the rest of the workout.

Pokey told us that he just got out of prison and is trying hard to turn his life around. He told us that he needs a group of men to be a family for him and to help him grow. We told him that this is the group for him.

All in attendance learned what F3 is all about today. Pokey joining us is a great opportunity for this group to help a man change his life. And he’s also going to push us all to be better… especially physically… watch out Special Sauce.

#tclaps to Teasip for giving Pokey a ride back to The Nest after the workout and then downtown.

Pokey doesn’t have a phone and is going to need a ride to workouts in the future. We’re going to have to work really hard and think old school on how we can coordinate that with him. I think Bleep and sound machine can help us understand communication pre-phones.

Right now we are working to get him a ride from the Target near City Place to tomorrow’s workout.

Those Newton’s Cradles were probably the worst and AlrightAlright mentioned his displeasure multiple times. Meatball forgot his coupon, but instead of taking the 30 sec run back to his place he used the mini-coupon I had. Needless to say he won the competition, but since his coupon was ~10lbs lighter, I’ll give the crown to Dirtbag, 2nd to Meatball, and YHC rounded out the field.

YHC has been getting shade all week from Oatmeal about our slow start last Thursday and wondering if we were just going to mosey to Starbucks today and make it an F2 event – Hence today’s theme. The post beat-down Coffeeteria turned into a 30 minute F2 event with 7 of the PAX not only welcoming Big Tex as an official Westsider #westside but also intently listening to sound machine impart his wisdom to the PAX. Lot’s of fun today and the camaraderie is very strong in this group. Thanks men for the hard effort today!
